LinkedIn profiles with a professional headshot get more views, more messages, and more connection requests. Recruiters spend seconds scanning before deciding whether to click. Your photo is the first thing they judge. It should look like you on a good day: confident, approachable, and worth talking to.

Four things that separate a good headshot from a forgettable one

01 The right expression

A forced smile looks like a forced smile. Expression coaching helps you find a look that's genuinely yours: confident without being stiff, approachable without being vague. Most clients are surprised how natural they look when someone is actually guiding them.

02 Proper lighting

Lighting is the single biggest difference between a phone photo and a professional headshot. My mobile studio uses the same equipment I'd use in a fixed studio. It flatters everyone and makes you look sharp at any screen size.

03 A clean background

A plain background keeps the attention on you. I shoot on dark or neutral studio backdrops that work across every industry, from law to tech to consulting. No distracting office clutter, no awkward selfie walls.

04 Why AI headshots fall short

AI-generated headshots get the pixels roughly right, but miss the thing that matters: your real expression. People connect with real faces. If your contacts have met you in person and your LinkedIn photo doesn't match, that's a trust problem. More on this here.

Peter is head and shoulders above all other photographers I have worked with. I can highly recommend him, especially when a bit of help to look the best is needed.

How your session works

A LinkedIn headshot session should take an hour out of your day, not a whole morning. Here's what to expect from the moment you book.

01

A quick chat about your LinkedIn

Before I pick up a camera, I'll ask about your role, your industry, and how you use LinkedIn. Are you attracting clients, looking for a new role, or building a profile within your company? The answer shapes the look we go for.

02

Studio at your workplace

I bring professional studio lighting to your office, home, or wherever suits you. Setup takes about 20 minutes — all I need is a room and a power socket. Expression coaching is built in. Most people relax within the first few minutes.

03

Choose and go

You'll see your photos as I shoot, so there's no anxious wait. We pick your favourites together, and your retouched images land in your inbox within two working days, optimised for LinkedIn's profile photo, banner, and article thumbnails.

Outstanding. Peter came to my house, set up speedily and answered all my questions. His calm manner helped me relax, I actually ended up enjoying the session, something I never thought I'd say about someone taking photos of me.

Why it matters

Your photo is the first thing
people see.

LinkedIn profiles with a professional photo get significantly more views, more connection requests, and more messages. Recruiters spend seconds on a profile before deciding whether to click. A photo taken on a phone three years ago is working against you. It doesn't need to be formal. It needs to look like you on a good day, the version of you a client would be glad to meet.

Rosey Hammond  ★★★★★

"He got to know the fabric of the business: what we're looking to convey and what outputs would be the most useful for us. I couldn't imagine a better person for the job."

Frequently asked questions

What size should a LinkedIn headshot be?

LinkedIn recommends 400x400 pixels minimum, but I deliver at much higher resolution so your photo looks sharp on any screen. Every image comes pre-cropped and optimised for LinkedIn's profile photo, banner, and article thumbnails.

What should I wear for a LinkedIn headshot?

Wear what you'd wear to meet an important client. For most people that means smart but not stiff. Solid colours work better than busy patterns on camera. When you book, I'll send you a preparation guide with specific suggestions for your industry. I've also written a detailed guide on what to wear.

Can you come to my office for a LinkedIn headshot?

Yes. I bring a full mobile studio to your workplace anywhere in the South West or London. All I need is a room with enough space and access to a power socket. Setup takes about 20 minutes.

How is a LinkedIn headshot different from a general headshot?

The session itself is the same: expression coaching, same-day review, professional retouching. The difference is in the brief. We'll talk about your LinkedIn audience and what impression you want to make, and I'll deliver images optimised specifically for LinkedIn's formats and aspect ratios.

Should I update my LinkedIn headshot?

If your current photo is more than two years old, doesn't look like you any more, or was taken on a phone, it's worth updating. Your LinkedIn photo is often the first thing people see before deciding whether to connect. I've written more about the signs it's time for a new headshot.

Can you photograph my whole team for LinkedIn?

Yes. I offer team packages for consistent LinkedIn headshots across your whole organisation. Same lighting, same framing, same coaching for everyone.

What happens after
you send a message

No black box. Here is what to expect once you hit send.

01

I'll reply personally, usually the same day

No agencies, no auto-responders. You'll get a reply from me, not a form letter.

02

A short call to scope it

Ten minutes to talk through who's being photographed, where, and when. We agree a date on the call.

03

Retouched images within two working days of the shoot

Same whether it's one headshot or a team of thirty.

A photo that works
as hard as you do.

Most clients are in front of the camera within a week of getting in touch. Prefer to talk first? Email me or call — no pressure, just a quick conversation.
